What are the attendance requirements?

Since our The MorningStar Academy is a registered private school, your student must meet the following attendance requirements. • 900 hours for students in grades 4-12 • 720 hours for students in grades 1 - 3 • 540 hours for Kindergarten students. Students may enter up to 150 hours of Joy Directed Activities per year.

How will my student meet the attendance requirements?

Our system will automatically keep track of the time that students spend online. If they are working on offline activities, they must click on the “Study Hall” button at the top of their course or homeroom page in order to keep an accurate time. Other activities can be noted in the “Joy Directed Activities” log.

Is there a specific time my student must be online each day?

Our academy students enjoy a philosophy of any time, anywhere, any pace education. This allows students to work at their own time, speed and place. However, all schoolwork must be completed by June 14th, 2015 and all students must meet their attendance requirements.

How much time should my student spend online every day?

Each student learns at a different pace, and these differences should be considered when determining if your student is spending enough time on schoolwork. Where can we track our student’s attendance records?

Log on to your homeroom page, then click on “Your Timelog” on the right side of the page to view the number of hours and minutes you have accumulated thus far. You may also click on “grade book” and access “Your Timelog” from there.
