What is The MorningStar Academy’s policy on Plagiarism?

Our plagiarism policy is outlined below. Plagiarism offenses accumulate for the entire year, not for an individual course.
First Offense:
An Academic Counselor will email the student and parent informing them of the plagiarized lesson.
A note will be made in the student’s file stating the course, assignment number, a copy of student’s work and source plagiarized.
In order for the student to resubmit the assignment, a parent must request a reset. This will use one of the two resets in that class for the year.
Second Offense:
An Academic Counselor will email the student and parent informing them of the plagiarized lesson.
A note will be made in the student’s file stating the course, assignment number, a copy of student’s work and source plagiarized.
The plagiarized assignment will be given a 0. Students will not be able to resubmit the assignment.
Third Offense:
Student will be suspended one to seven days.
Fourth Offense and Higher:
An Academic Counselor will email the student and parent informing them of the plagiarized lesson.
A note will be made in the student’s file stating the course, assignment number, a copy of student’s work and source plagiarized.
The plagiarized assignment will be given a 0. Students will not be able to resubmit the assignment.
Length of suspension is up to the discretion of the Teaching Supervisor and Director of Academics.
