High School Diplomas: The MorningStar Academy - Part I
To obtain a high school
diploma from The Morningstar Academy, students must demonstrate that they
have successfully completed at least 18 credits of high school work. If a
student is college bound, it is strongly recommended that he/she completes
22 credits or more.
Students of any age can earn a high school diploma from The Morningstar
Academy. All you have to do is demonstrate to us that you have fulfilled our
high school graduation requirements. This can be accomplished in several
ways:
1. Obtain a passing grade in courses that add up to 18 credits at The
Morningstar Academy. This can be done at your own pace.
2. Provide us with a transcript from a public or private school that
contains enough credits so that when courses taken from Morningstar’s high
school course catalogue are added, the student will have met Morningstar’s
high school diploma requirements as listed below.
3. Courses from a homeschool program that includes evidence that the student
mastered equivalent courses. A detailed discussion of how Morningstar
Academy evaluates homeschool work can be found by clicking here.

The Morningstar Academy will grant 1 high school credit for the successful

For courses that use a textbook and/or workbook, the following four
conditions must be met in order for the Morningstar curriculum advisors to
grant high school credits:
1. The textbook must be identified by the publisher as a high school text.
2. The student must have completed at least 66% of the textbook.
3. The student’s work has been documented to the satisfaction of the
Morningstar curriculum advisors. Documentation includes copies of mid term
and final exams
For courses that do not use a textbook and/or workbook, the following
conditions must be met in order for the Morningstar curriculum advisors to
grant high school credits:
1. The student must complete a minimum of 90 hours of work in one subject
area. ”Work” is defined as reading, writing, library research, watching
educational videos, using educational software, interacting with educational
