Worldview - Teach Your Children Well

Your homeschooled child’s worldview should be based upon your worldview. What they know depends upon that worldview. You may not have your worldview itemized and put down in writing, but you have one, just as everyone else has one. Your homeschooled child depends upon you for that worldview. There are a lot of influences in this world and it is important that your homeschooler learns from his parents. Your worldview can be pinned down better if you ask yourself some basic questions. Questions like; who am I? Where am I? What is wrong? How can it be fixed? The answers will depend upon who you are and may vary depending on whom you ask.
Public schools will teach your children that we are human beings and that we evolved from monkeys, whereas your worldview tells you that you are the result of a loving God who put you here for a reason. The homeschool student should know that their life is a gift from God, and the only place to learn this is in the homeschool setting.
Public schools will tell your child that they are on Earth, a planet that happened by accident in the Big Bang. Your worldview should tell your homeschooled child that they are on the Earth, created by God, a marvelous gift from God to his children.
Public schools would tell us that what is wrong is that there is a lack of education and a lack of money. The homeschooled child, taught by you, from your worldview would know that what’s wrong with the world is sin. What is wrong with the world is disobedience to God that needs to be remedied. Our relationship with God was broken when sin entered our world and that relationship needs to be restored.
Public schools would teach that the way to fix the world is through more money and more education. The Christian worldview revolves around Jesus Christ. Accepting His sacrifice and making Him Lord in your life and seeking God’s will is how to fix the world.
Those who do not believe in God must make up different way to explain the universe and our place in it. There are many different worldviews, depending on a person’s religion or beliefs. Humanists believe that the universe is centered on man and his achievements. Marxism as a worldview stated that the inevitability of class struggle based on economic factors. A secular worldview teaches that we are all accidents. The Christian worldview seeks knowledge, wisdom and understanding of God’s will as outlined by God’s word. Homeschoolers taught this worldview will be instrumental in bringing about a worldwide change through their faith and evangelism.
