Devotions for the Homeschool Family -- Continued
Memory Verse: "Whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst" (John 4:14).
Prayer Requests: Pray for missionaries' homeschoolers who have to live so differently from most homeschoolers in this country. If you know some missionaries, remember them in prayer now.
WHEELS OFF THE WAGON
Songs: "Roll, Jordan, Roll"; Rolled Away"
Scripture: Exodus 14:24-31
Story: Jack jumped into his wagon. It was his cousin's old wagon, but Jack liked it very much. Up and down the hills he rolled, faster and faster. He was really having fun. Mother had told Jack to watch the time, and come home early for dinner.
"Just one more trip down the hill before it is time for dinner," said Jack. Up to the top of the hill he climbed. Then he jumped into his wagon, and began to roll down again. All at once one of the wheels fell off. Jack was in trouble. He heard a loud, scraping noise. Then his wagon began to slow down. Soon it turned over, and Jack fell out and rolled down the side of the hill. He was glad that he was not hurt.
The Bible tells of some other wagon wheels that fell off. Moses and his people were crossing the sea. The Egyptians were following them with horses and chariots. As they came to the sea, the wheels of the chariots fell off. Now the Egyptians were really in trouble. Soon the water from the sea covered them, and Moses' enemies were drowned. God had taken care of His own homeschoolers.
He had brought them across the sea and on to dry land, but he had let the enemies of His people drown.
God cares for us too. He loves us and protects us from danger and harm.
Memory Verse: "Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble. Incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily" (Ps. 102:2).
Prayer Requests: Ask the Lord to protect and care for you today. Ask Him to lead you to someone to whom you can be a help and blessing.
TWO WALLS
Songs: "Oh, Be Careful"; "Little Hands, Be Careful"
Scripture: I Kings 2: 36-46
Story: Jack had a bad temper. He did not try to control it. Mother and Dad often talked to him about asking the Lord Jesus to help him control his temper. But Jack did not really seem to care.
